2000 Great Songs #1456: She's On Drugs
As far as the Jazz Butcher goes, "She's On Drugs"--our second visit to 1990's Cult Of The Basement--is a relatively straightforward indie pop song, some fizzy, bouncy proto-Britpop. But lyrically it's a fun little goof, a little messier and more complex than the why-hasn't-this-been-used-before title might suggest. "Good grief, won't you look on the dancefloor? She's got to be American, she's not from here!" Yeah, that says a lot.
