My Top 2000 Songs #1165: Walk Away From Love

"Don't Go," from the debut Yaz album (ok, Yazoo for those of you outside the States), seems to get more attention. But "Walk Away From Love," from 1983's You And Me Both, is the one I more closely associate with my high school years. That boppy little synth riff that opens the song is about as 1983 as you can get, the sort of music I wasn't necessarily playing at home--I didn't buy many new wave Euro-synth records at the time, still focusing on classic rock & prog with a little punk thrown into the mix--but would invariably hear at parties. Even today, just hearing those first few notes takes me back 40 years, to the throes of adolescent angst, for better and worse.
