My Top 2000 Songs #1164: Comfortably Numb

My friends, I'm in a tough spot here.

On the one hand, Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" is undeniably a perfect song, from the blend of the somber Roger Waters verses with the gorgeous, anthemic David Gilmour chorus; to Gilmour's jaw-dropping solo and unmatchably epic build-up. And 1979's The Wall was such a monumentally huge album for my 13-year-old self.

On the other hand, "Comfortably Numb" has become such an overplayed staple of classic rock radio, that, much like "Stairway To Heaven" and similar chestnuts, I find I have little interest in hearing it these days. And 1979's The Wall has steadily drifted into the status of heavy, bombastic epics which, while I still respect it, I only dust off every year or so for a nostalgic spin.

So what does one do? I guess one sticks it at #1164 and moves along.
