2000 Great Songs #1386: Ghost Ship Waiting

First wave British shoegaze/dream pop band Slowdive released three solid records between 1991 and 1995 before calling it a day (though they'd return some 20 years later). In the interim, three of the band members regrouped as Mojave 3, making a huge stylistic shift into jangly, sun-drenched Southern California-styled cosmic Americana. The fifth and final album from the trio, 2006's Puzzles Like You, was particularly great, injecting even more catchy pop hooks into the mix. "Ghost Ship Waiting" is just a joyous little jangle pop track, sticky-sweet melodies that call to mind bands like the Pernice Brothers and The Tyde.
