2000 Great Songs #1257: The Tide Won't Tire

Last time New Jersey indie folk/jangle-pop band Speed The Plough showed up on the list, they were still known as The Trypes. This time we're visiting their second LP as StP, 1991's Wonder Wheel, for "The Tide Won't Tire." It's lovely, pastoral folk-rock, gentle guitars and pianos with Toni Baumgartner's understated vocals wafting above like a summer breeze. The rhythm section and additional guitars are provided by members of The Feelies (the two bands frequently work together), and the song wouldn't have sounded out of place on the Feelies' classic Good Earth LP.
