2000 Great Songs #1318: Sunfair

I really loved 90s Bay Area indie band Creeper Lagoon and their 1998 LP I Become Small And Go--we've already visited a couple of its tracks here)--and had hoped their 2001 major label debut, Take Back The Universe And Give Me Yesterday, would give some local favorites a commercial boost. Alas, while the album was pretty solid, the added bucks giving the songs a bit more of a radio-friendly sheen, it never quite happened for the band.

While it's not a mainstay of my playlists these days, I particularly liked "Sunfair"; it was a bit of a throwback to the prior album, re-using the blend of electronic beats and raw post-Pavement guitar rock and quiet-loud-quiet dynamics, but with a bit more sonic muscle this time around.
