Returning From A Break (For Now?)

I took the past month off from this page because, let's face it, blogging is kinda 20 years out-of-fashion, and while I hated letting down the 2-3 people who check in on this site (hi, guys!), I had other stuff going on. Put on my old SEC hat to do a little consulting; did some non-music writing (like a recent piece on the Elizabeth Holmes trial, check it out!); served as a poll monitor in the recent (stupid) Newsom recall election; and various volunteer projects in the community (more to come).

Of course, none of this stops me from obsessively acquiring new (and old) music, and since I feel an absurdly compulsive need to share this music with strangers, I'll probably continue to pop back in here now and then.

Hey, as long as you're here, one artist I've been listening to a lot lately is Vanessa Peters. She's been around for awhile, making quietly wonderful singer-songwriter records with a touch of Americana, and certainly deserves the attention given to more mainstream artists like, say, Sheryl Crow, or the current crop of indie women like Phoebe Bridgers.

Here's her sublime cover of America's "Sister Golden Hair." And you can buy her music at Bandcamp.

  1. Welcome back from a regular reader/lurker. For a while there, I thought it might've been something I didn't say.

  3. Hi - Here's another long-time lurker and rabid music fan of the "under the radar" bands who greatly enjoys your music writing. Living in the Bay Area as well so I'm sure we're been at a few of the same shows over the years!
