2000 Great Songs #1304: All My Fault

Our second selection from 2024, and, as always, I'm wary of including recent releases here (particularly songs that didn't even exist when I started this ridiculous project a few years ago). Definitely some risk that, should I look back at this list 5 or 10 years down the road, a few of these recent picks of which I was so enamored in the moment will have faded from memory.

So I'm taking a chance with this cut from indie country-flavored rockers Fantastic Cat (who just released their third LP a few weeks back). But "All My Fault," off their second record, Now That's What I Call Fantastic Cat, is one of the rare tracks I hear these days that, immediately after it ends, makes me hit rewind and play it again. (Also one of the songs I hear that immediately makes me reach for my guitar so I can play along.) It's just that catchy! A wonderful little pop song that feels so familiar, like some great lost mid-70s country/pop crossover hit, that it makes no sense it hasn't been recorded by someone previously. Throw in a silly throwback video that makes you long for the days of MTV--or at least OK Go--and it's just endless fun.
