For our second selection off the Apples in Stereo's 2000 LP Discovery Of A World Inside The Moone, we're finally getting a little Hilarie Sidney into the mix. Though maybe less musically ambitious than frontman Robert Schneider, drummer (and Schneider's former partner) Sidney has a knack for bubblegum sweetness, getting a shot or two per album to break things up with a catchy, fizzy earworm delivered with her sugary girl-next-door charm. Hard for me to say "20 Cases Suggestive Of..." is head-and-shoulders above her other contributions--put all those together and you've got one hell of a shoulda-been-hits compilation album--but I've always enjoyed this little riff-rocker a lot. (Since their break-up, she left the Apples and started The High Water Marks with her new partner, a band which carried the old lo-fi Elephant 6 spirit tethered to her brand of effervescent bubblegum.)See the entire Top 2000 to date in a sortable database!
