2000 Great Songs #1286: Your Favorite Thing

Bob Mould's debut with his power trio Sugar, 1992's Copper Blue, was such a monster that it was kinda easy to overlook its 1994 follow-up. File Under: Easy Listening wasn't a bad record, just a little less powerful than the debut, which had given a real taste of what the legendary Hüsker Dü might have sounded like with a little more production muscle. The highlight of this second (and, sadly, final) Sugar LP was "Your Favorite Thing," a jangly power pop song driven through a force-field of hefty overdrive. No pretense of being something monumental, just a catchy little tune with a killer guitar hook.
