2000 Great Songs #1207: Living In The Past
While I enjoy a lot of Jethro Tull's music, Ian Anderson's vocals, and some of the harder rock intrusions into the more colorful folk and prog pieces, often keep me at bay. That's all tamped down a bit on "Living In The Past," the wonderful 1969 non-album single. Not surprisingly, my love of this song is almost entirely focused on the instrumental bits, that gorgeous flute melody floating between some tricky bass that instantly feels like something that's been genetically passed down for generations.
