It's all about that warbling string-bend. I mean, yeah, "Sideshow By The Seashore," another pick from Luna's 1995 Penthouse LP--arguably a career high--is a lovely song, poetic imagery widely open to interpretation, delivered by Dean Wareham with the usual mix of gentle beauty and deceptive edge. But the way they take an already intriguing, intricate guitar riff, and turn it into something disorienting and just a touch off, gives the song a uniquely mysterious vibe.
(BTW, saw them at the Fillmore just last weekend... they played this, and it soared!)
