My Top 1000 Songs #565: Pepper

Arguably the most confrontational, steadfastly anti-commercial band ever records a radio/MTV-friendly alt.rock pop song, and, miraculously, it actually works! Butthole Surfers-go-mersh could've been a complete joke, but "Pepper" is a pretty damn great song, with a sing-along chorus, catchy musical twists, and even a killer video--with Erik Estrada, no less! Sure, the single (from 1996's Electriclarryland) is definitely of its time, but remains wigged-out fun to crank up now and then.
